Ravenscroft has been the host of the Spanish exchange groups for the past six years. Every year, the exchange students travel from Centro Escolar Amanecer in Alcrón, Madrid Spain. This year was no different. Students were all ages fourteen through seventeen, and they stayed with Ravenscroft families. They spent several days at our school participating in classes and several days off campus enjoying excursions. They were in the United States August 20th through Labor Day, and on one of those days, our Online News class had the opportunity to meet with the students and have a group interview.

With the Spanish exchange students, we talked about what they did in their free time. After talking to them, we soon realized that they were very similar to us. They play sports, listen to music, read, and use Instagram and Snapchat. We were surprised to find out that they enjoyed American music and sports and wanted to attend American universities. They were experiencing exactly what Ravenscroft high schoolers experience at school: we all work hard, enjoy our extracurricular activities, and spend time with our friends on the weekends. Through the exchange, we were able to experience another culture while finding similarities in our daily lives.
