“The Impact of Natural Disasters in the Philippines”
By: Noah Diggs
One place that is impacted more by natural disasters is the Philippines. Researchers claim that the Philippines is rated as a very high-risk country. In fact, in the Philippines, natural disasters are considered a part of everyday life. Most recently, typhoon Yagi caused rivers to flood their banks and to create landslides, which led to fifteen deaths. This also makes Yagi the fifth typhoon to make landfall since May of 2024. Such typhoons can cause volcanoes to become volatile and can cause earthquakes to occur, both of which make the Philippines vulnerable.

“Income Inequality”
By: Max Rein
Income inequality has had people both rejecting and defending it in recent years. Trickle-down economics is a great example of the potential pros of income inequality. The idea of trickle-down economics is that large, rich firms (and people) provide the jobs and resources for an economy to survive. The idea is that you release restrictions on businesses, making them as big as possible, so that the economy can be bolstered as much as possible. When the economy grows, everyone should grow, and that is the potential benefit. However, the problem with trickle-down economics is that no one forces the rich businesses to invest their wealth into growth. What happens a lot of times is rich CEO’s increase their own salaries instead of growing their businesses. Instead of the wealth being put back into the economy and helping people, it sits still in the banks of the rich. This creates a problem because it leaves less and less of the money for other people, instead of [gr]owing the economy. In turn, this creates a disparity, where some individuals have trust in firms to grow and to vitalize the economy. While, others fear that greed will take over, and they will be left jobless and poor.
